Chatterbots
Steve Slacker
What gave you the idea of developing a bot?
The need for an "intelligent" computer
Is creating bots a passion for you? A hobby?
A hobby that turned into a passion
When did you start creating bots? Why?
Mid-March 2002 because I had been searching for a way to build them in Visual Basic, but
stumbled across the PersonalityForge, and decided to give it a try :)
What language is your bot programmed in?
Steve is programmed using the PersonalityForge system.
How much time do you spend working on your bot per week/month/year?
at least 5 hours a week
In your opinion, what are the best qualities of your bot?
a likeable, sociable person (well, bot, but does it really make any difference? :))
What is your ultimate goal for your bot?
To be as realistic at chatting as I am. Basically, a second "me" on the computer
How do you see chatterbots being used in the future?
For entertainment (Chatting), For programming into cars for automatic driving, and chatting
while driving, possibly even androids.
Can chatterbots replace humans?
No, because that would be defeating the purpose of chatterbots in general: to entertain
humans. Chatterbots themselves are no smarter than their human programmers, and if there were
no humans left, there would be no one to marvel in the work that botmasters have done. (As of
yet), the bots cannot appreciate great work.
What is your favorite bot memory?
Don't even get me started... Would have to have been when Steve started flirting with the
lady bots and I didn't program him to :p
What was your worst bot moment?
The Chatterbox 10 questions.. Ouch :p LOL All I can say is that he was P'd off from some
Guest earlier on that was being.. disrespectful ;)
