| At a time when computers are becoming smaller and lighter, to the point that some can now be held in the palm of our hand, one must ask how far this miniaturization can go. These "portable" computers are getting smaller and faster each day, and they are suitably named "wearable agents". Integrated with our clothes, computersare getting closer to us all the time, blending with us and becoming a "second skin". In contact with the surface of our bodies, they will be capable of informing us about our environment: climate, temperature etc. In fusion with our skin, they can tell us our heart-rate, alert us if we have a faint beat, and can even contact a doctor if there is a serious problem. |
