WeatherAloud: the world’s weather on your desktop
Here is a neat little utility for presenting the weather. Discover the weather conditions affecting family and friends around the world with WeatherAloud.

The control panel displays the temperature, wind speed, weather conditions and forecast for the selected city. You can add or remove as many cities as you like from your personalized MyCities list: there are hundreds to choose from, from every corner of the world. Updated information can be retrieved at regular intervals, or you can get the latest information by clicking the ‘update’ button.

WeatherAloud’s little bonus is the possibility of having weather information read out loud to you. It uses speech technology from Microsoft and Lernout & Hauspie: the number of voices is limited to six in the trial version, and many more after registration. Select the voice you want to hear with the Options -> Voice Options menu. It is possible to specify which parts of the weather information (temperature, pressure, forecast etc.) you want to hear for each city, or by default. You can even modify the introductory phrases. If you ever wanted to be wake up in mid-winter to a "Wow! Today it is a scorching 35°C! Just kidding, in fact it is…", then this is your opportunity.

Who should use WeatherAloud? Weather fanatics, naturally, but also any people who want to keep informed of the weather conditions that their family and friends are experiencing in different countries around the world, as well as those who find themselves in a strange land far from home. WeatherAloud is unpretentious, uncomplicated software that could bring a ray of sunshine to your day.
