Smart House
You come home from work and as you approach the
house a retinal analyser recognises you, opens the door and greets you
by turning on the lights. In the kitchen, you walk towards your fridge,
which informs you that you are missing a few ingredients from the recipe
for tonight's dinner. You validate the proposed suggestion, breathing a
sigh of relief, as the missing ingredients will be delivered within a few
hours. You enter the lounge, where your latest e-mails await you on your
television set. You quickly consult them: undoubtedly it is news of your
arriving guests. At the same time, without you even knowing it, your dishwasher
has detected an internal technical fault and has automatically requested
maintenance assistance from its manufacturer...
You are lucky enough to be living in a smart house,
a house which demonstrates interactivity and reactivity. In this house,
all elements are inter-connected (microwave, washing machine, surveillance
cameras), and all are linked to the Internet. The entire house is configurable
from anywhere in the world through the Internet.
Fantasy you say? Certainly not, this smart house
is not as futuristic as one might believe: the technologies already exist
and the companies developing them are keen to enter this attractive and
interesting market. AgentLand would like to help you to discover that what
you perceive to be the future, may not be so far away from entering your
"home sweet home".
Cisco - Virtual Internet Home Tour
Use the virtual Internet home tour to discover
the benefits of the Internet lifestyle. Play games with your friends while
you're sitting in your separate homes. Make sure your kids are doing their
homework without leaving your desk at the office and watch the latest movie
release whenever you want without a visit to the video store.
Electrolux Screenfridge
The fridge is the natural place for communication
in every family. You post notes, list postcards and other messages on the
refrigerator door. Screenfridge supports not only post-it notes (for which
there is still place) but also video-messaging between family members as
well as online shopping, TV and radio. Check out the demonstration for
information on the features.
