Foundation for intelligent physical agents (FIPA)
FIPA is the Foundation of Intelligent Physical Agents, an international non-profit association of companies and organizations which agree to share efforts to produce specifications of generic agent technologies with the emphasis on multi-agent management systems, inter-agent communication and interfacing to non-FIPA agents.

AgentLink is part of the European Commission's ESPRIT program and provides a focus for the agent research community. An open network, all eligible institutions are invited to apply for membership which is free. AgentLink plans to help in the establishment of new collaborations through establishing and maintaining special interest groups.

i3net - European Network for Intelligent Information Interfaces
i3, the European initiative for intelligent information interfaces, was created in 1997 in order to take a human-centred approach to the exploration of new, visionary interactive systems for people in their everyday activities.

Corporation for National Research Initiatives (CNRI)
The Corporation for National Research Initiatives undertakes, fosters and promotes research in the public interest. The activities center around strategic development of network-based information technologies.

 Autonomous Undersea Systems Institute (AUSI)
AUSI is developing and testing a prototypical set of behaviors which will provide a functionally robust mobile underwater vehicle. Initial research findings are showing that complex and robust behavior can arise from fairly simple heterogeneous neural networks. In short, this body of researchers has engendered a new branch in AI/robotics which focuses on a bottom-up approach to the issue of autonomous agent behavior.

American Association for Artificial Intelligence (AAAI)
Founded in 1979, the American Association for Artificial Intelligence is a nonprofit scientific society devoted to advancing the scientific understanding of the mechanisms underlying thought and intelligent behavior and their embodiment in machines.

World Scientific and Engineering Society (WSES)
The World Scientific and Engineering Society supports the research and the diffusion of the scientific and engineering knowledge, especially in the areas of mathematics and computer science and their interaction to other sciences.

European Coordinating Committee for Artificial Intelligence (ECCAI)
ECCAI, the European Coordinating Committee for Artificial Intelligence, was established in July 1982 as a representative body for the European Artificial Intelligence community. Its aim is to promote the study, research and application of Artificial Intelligence in Europe.

Artificial Intelligence and the Simulation of Behaviour (AISB)
The Society for the Study of Artificial Intelligence and the Simulation of Behaviour (AISB) is the largest and foremost Artificial Intelligence Society in the United Kingdom. Membership of AISB is open to anyone with interests in Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science.

Association Française pour l'Intelligence Artficielle (AFIA)
The Association Française pour l'Intelligence Artificielle (AFIA – French Association for Artificial Intelligence) is an organization, created in 1989, which has more than 350 members. The AFIA has a scientific vocation: the promotion of French-language research of international standard quality. There are many working groups, and the AFIA also publishes a newsletter.
