Corporation for National Research Initiatives (CNRI)
The Corporation for National Research Initiatives undertakes, fosters and promotes research in the public interest. The activities center around strategic development of network-based information technologies.

 GroupLens - University of Minnesota
The GroupLens Research Project is a research group in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota. Members of the GroupLens Research Project are involved in many research projects related to the fields of information filtering, collaborative filtering and recommender systems.

Navy Center for Applied Research in Artificial Intelligence
The Navy Center for Applied Research in Artificial Intelligence has been involved in both basic and applied research in artificial intelligence since its inception in 1982. The Center consists of an Intelligent Systems Laboratory and a Human-Computer Interaction Laboratory with research sections in Intelligent M4 (Multimodal/Multimedia) Systems and Interface Design and Evaluation.

 Collaborative Technologies Research Center (CTRC)
The Collaborative Technologies Research Center was established in October 1996. The CTRC performs fundamental and applied research in intelligent software agents, information integration, and software engineering. CTRC capabilities have broad applicability in science, engineering, business and management, education, and national defense.

 AFIT Agent Lab
In order to solve interesting problems in the area of multi-agent systems development and agent security, the AFIT Agent Lab brings together researchers with various expertise : artificial intelligence, cryptography, information security, networks, genetic algorithms, and software engineering.

Division of Information and Intelligent Systems
A division of the Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE). Fundamental research foci include universal access, human language technology, knowledge modeling, scientific collaboratories, robotics, computer vision, data mining, database access technology, human-computer interaction, and embedded intelligent systems.

Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)
The DARPA studies have identified key areas for technology development to enhance these capabilities in a future force as: networked Command, Control, and Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Targeting; robotics; precision indirect fires; and beyond line of sight organic sensing and precision all-weather surveillance and targeting system.

CoABS: Control of Agent-Based Systems Program
The CoABS research community is developing a prototype “agent grid” as an infrastructure for the run-time integration of heterogeneous multi-agent and legacy systems.

 Amphion project
The goal of the Amphion project is to make Knowledge-Based Software Engineering a reality for NASA. KBSE uses techniques from artificial intelligence and formal methods to raise the level at which users program to the specification level (which describes the problem to be solved) from the code level (which describes how to solve the problem).

 Collective Intelligence
Analyzing the science of large, inherently distributed artificial systems and implementing local strategies in such systems to augment their performance.
