KQML- A Language and Protocol for Knowledge and Information Exchange
By Tim Finin and Rich Fritzson, 4/13/1994
This paper describes the design of and experimentation with the Knowledge Query and Manipulation Language (KQML). This work is part of a larger effort, the ARPA Knowledge Sharing Effort which is aimed at developing techniques and methodology for building large-scale knowledge bases which are sharable and reusable.

IJCAI-99: Workshop on Agent Communication Languages
08/01/99, Stockholm, Sweden
The main theme of this first international workshop on agent communication languages was: "Semantics and pragmatics of Agent Communication Languages: From Speech Acts to Conversations"

 Conceptual Graphs
Conceptual graphs (CGs) are a system of logic based on the existential graphs of Charles Sanders Peirce and the semantic networks of artificial intelligence. They express meaning in a form that is logically precise, humanly readable, and computationally tractable. CGs have been implemented in a variety of projects for information retrieval, database design, expert systems, and natural language processing

 DAML
The DAML (DARPA Agent Markup Language) language is being developed as an extension to XML and the Resource Description Framework (RDF) that will allow users to provide machine-readable semantic annotations for specific communities of interest. One of the goals of the DAML program is to create technologies that will enable software agents to dynamically identify and understand information sources, and to provide interoperability between agents in a semantic manner.
